Middle School Track, Spring and Summer

The TWR Middle School Spring/Summer Track program is for Wilde Lake, Harper's Choice, and Dunloggin Middle School students. This program is a continuation of the Middle School Fall XC and Winter Running programs. It focuses on training for and learning about the distance events run in Howard County High School track meets (3200, 1600, and 800).

Information for Parents and Guardians

This program runs from March through the summer. Students may choose to participate only in the Spring, only in the Summer, or both. It's up to you. The team meets two or three times per week at Wilde Lake High School. On weekdays, the practices will start at 4:00 or 5:00 pm. Saturday practices typically begin at 3:00pm. We usually run on the Wilde Lake High School grass practice fields or on the track. Occasionally, we go off campus for a run at Wilde Lake Park or in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Like our other TWR programs, the focus is on learning about and training for distance events: cross country and the 1600- and 3200-meter track events. The track programs, though, include opportunities to learn about additional track & field events, like relays and throwing.

There will be opportunities for athletes who are interested to compete in local races and youth track meets. Participation in races and meets is not required, but for those thinking about running in high school, the races and meets can serve as a good introduction to competition.
